QPR Reserves ran out worthy 5-3 winners against Crystal Palace at Loftus Road.

A brace from Stefan Bailey, an own goal and further strikes from Ray Jones and Rohan Ricketts sealed the victory in the R's final Pontins Holidays Combination League fixture of the season.

The R's were on the front foot from the first whistle, yet it was Palace who opened the scoring against the run of play in the ninth minute.

Efficient wide play involving Danny Granville and James Dayton eventually ended with the ball falling into the path of Jamie Smith, who finished with aplomb, off the foot of the post.

Rangers were level within four minutes though, when Marc Bircham's back post free-kick was headed back into the danger-zone by Kieron St Aimie and Jones pounced to head home from close range.

Buoyed by their equaliser, the R's went on to orchestrate proceedings before half-time.

Bailey made it 2-1 midway through the half with a neat shot on the turn, before Moses Swaibu hooked the ball into his own net, under pressure from the hardworking Shabazz Baidoo.

Bailey capped a solid individual showing when he intercepted a loose pass in midfield before taking one touch and smashing a fearsome 20-yard strike into the roof of the net.

The Eagles improved after the break. Ryan Hall made it 4-2 with a tidy finish from the edge of the penalty box and when Tommy Black let fly from distance to reduce the deficit yet further, hope sprung eternal for the visitors.

Undeterred, the Hoops restored their two-goal buffer when Ricketts' sublime solo run ended with the Wolves loanee passing the ball into the bottom corner to complete the scoring.
