Jake Cole signed an improved contract until the summer of 2008 just days before the end of the 2005/06 season.
The young goalkeeper was an integral member of the R's squad last season, despite only making five appearances in all competitions.
His performance against Wolverhampton Wanderers towards the end of the campaign drew much praise from John Gregory, who described his display as 'outstanding.'
Cole originally joined the Hoops as a 10 year-old, before signing as a Scholar in July 2002.
Despite being starved of first team opportunities during the past few seasons, Cole proved his undoubted potential when he came off the bench to replace the injured Paul Jones at the Madejski Stadium on the final day of the 2005/06 season.
Despite a narrow 2-1 defeat against Steve Coppell's men, Cole left the home of the Champions with his head held high - making a series of stunning saves, including a notable tip over from Stephen Hunt's spectacular bicycle kick.
Earlier in the campaign, Cole impressed in the 1-0 Boxing Day defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion at the Withdean Stadium.
