It's been a long journey to the Cup Final but after 7 rounds of Competition we have our finalists! 2nd Division Lee Campbell and 3rd Division John Moriarty meet on Sunday in the battle for the trophy.

The Road to Wembley:

Lee Campbell began the journey in the 1st Round with a narrow win on Goal Time after his tie with Phil Bassett ended 2-2; just 4 minutes separated the two. John Moriarty meanwhile overcame Stephen Barry 3-2 to proceed. In the 2nd Round, Lee claimed a fine scalp with a 5-2 drubbing of Premiership Jon Burnard, currently vying for the title. Not to be outdone however, John crushed 2nd Division Michael Lawson 5-0 as both predictors hit form at the right time.

In the 3rd Round Lee again required Goal Time to qualify. After his 0-0 draw with Premiership John Pontiggia, a difference of 8 minutes was again a narrow margin to qualify on. John meanwhile eased past lower league Charlie Campbell 2-0. The 4th Round saw a high scoring round; John overcoming Malcolm Rhoades 5-4 and Lee Campbell knocking out plucky Conference One predictor Colin Burgin by the same scoreline.

Getting down to the business end of the Cup, the 5th Round saw yet another tough tie for Lee as the Ipswich game produced a goalless draw meaning the ties' 3-3 draw went down to closest attendance, Lee coming in very close to the actual attendance on the day. No problems for John however as he eased past another Conference Two predictior, Per-Arne Eriksen, 2-0. The Quarters were tightly contested, John requiring a tie-breaker for the first time to knock out Terry Powell while Lee knocked out 3rd Division Dave Thompson 2-1. With the Semi-Finals producing a derth of points, goal time was needed by both players to proceed to the Final. Lee being 4 minutes closest while John squeezed through by the margin of just 1 minute.
