The third annual National Football Museum's Kick-Off Festival for college students with learning difficulties and disabilities was this year hosted at Linford Christie Stadium in London.

QPR, Chelsea, The London Disability Forum and the South London Special League all helped sponsor the event, with ten teams from across the regions travelling down for a chance to win the prestigious "NFM Football for All" Cup.

Once again the day proved to be a real success, with the event giving players with disabilities a chance to meet new friends, compete and have their excellent standard of football rewarded and recognised.

Steve Bartlett from the England CP squad and Sharon Brockenshire, UEFA award-winning disability organiser, attended the day and Sharon was delighted with its success:

"This was the first National Football Museum festival I have attended and it was one of the best in terms of the way it was organised and the opportunities it provided for those so often excluded from the game.

"To see the players so happy and excited was wonderful and I can understand why this festival has become so popular with college players. I am looking forward to working with the museum on new projects in the future."

Anthony Docherty, QPR Community Development Coach for Disabilities, was also delighted with his club's support for the event.

"This was a great success and the winning teams from Norwich (NFM trophy) and Brooklands (Community Cup) played some excellent football," he told www.qpr.co.uk.

"Well done to Wolverhampton College, who came so close to winning the tournament, and to Great Yarmouth College, who were elected Fair Play winners.

"It was a special day to see so many players with disabilities enjoying their football and having fun."
