ON THE ROAD TO RECOVERY
Rowan Vine is making 'unbelievable progress,' as he continues his rehabilitation from a fractured tibia and fibula.
Vine suffered the fracture in training a fortnight ago today, but after successfully undergoing an operation less than 12 hours after the unfortunate injury, the 25 year-old is now well on the road to recovery.
"Even at this early stage, Rowan's making unbelievable progress," Head Physio Paul Hunter told www.qpr.co.uk.
"He's started his exercise bike work, which works towards increasing the range of his ankle and his knee, as well as building up the muscles."
Vine is pencilled in for an X-Ray review in six weeks time, at which stage the medical team will be able to re-evaluate the recovery process.
For the time being though, the forward-come-winger is getting used to life with the Exogen Machine, which has been introduced to aid the healing process in his left leg.
"The Exogen helps speed up the healing process," Hunter explained.
"It straps around the fracture and the manufacturers claim it can speed up the healing process by up to 30 per-cent.
"Only time will tell as to whether it works as well as that, but even if it only helps by one or two per-cent, it will be thoroughly worthwhile."
Meanwhile, R's Club Captain Gareth Ainsworth has paid his own glowing tribute to Vine, telling www.qpr.co.uk: "In football, you sometimes don't realise what you've got until you lose it, and we all now realise just how important a player 'Viney' is for us.
"He's made an outstanding contribution to our season and without his contribution, we would not be sitting as comfortably as we are now.
"I know all the players, and fans alike, wish him a full and speedy recovery."
