IN PROFILE: JASON JARRETT
R's new signing Jason Jarrett started his career at Blackpool, before spells at Wrexham and Bury.
However, it was at Wigan Athletic where he made his name as a professional, after signing for a fee of £75,000.
He enjoyed promotion to both the Championship and Premiership with the Latics, before rejecting a new contract to play in the Premiership and sign for Norwich City.
After starting the season as first choice, things didn't quite go according to plan and in November he joined Plymouth Argyle on loan, following the arrival of Dickson Etuhu from Preston North End.
He returned to Carrow Road in January, where ironically his first league appearance was against the Pilgrims at Home Park.
Just two more appearances followed for Nigel Worthington's men, before Jarrett returned to the North West to sign for Preston, making his debut in a goalless draw - unsurprisingly, away at Plymouth!
He went on to make 11 appearances, scoring one goal, before signing a three-year contract in the summer on 2006.
After starting the first five games of the 2006/07 season, Jarrett's omission from the 16-man squad that took on Southampton in early November spelt the beginning of the end for the former Wigan man.
He went on to make just one more appearance, before finding himself well down the pecking order. He went on to enjoy loan spells at Hull and Leicester, before being placed on the transfer list at the end of the season.
