R's winger Lee Cook has welcomed the signing of fellow left sided player Chris Barker with open arms.

Speaking exclusively to www.qpr.co.uk at Harlington this morning (Thursday), Cook revealed his delight at the free transfer addition from Cardiff City.

"I've played against him a couple of times and he seems very strong, both in the tackle and in the air,'' he said.

"If what I've seen of him so far is anything to go by, I'm convinced he'll be a good signing.''

Cook dovetailed superbly on the left flank with right sided defender Marcus Bignot last season, but the R's Player of the Year believes the addition of another left footed player will add far greater balance to the Rangers side in the 2007/08 campaign.

"It's decent to have another left sided player in the squad,'' he told www.qpr.co.uk.

"I've played with a few left backs in my time here and it's always better when they're able to open up and not readjust themselves to their right side when they're looking to pass me the ball.

"I had a great understanding with Biggy last season, so we'll see how it works with Chris. He's good on the ball and is a very consistent performer, but we'll have to wait and see what the gaffer's got in mind with regards to the left back spot.''
